私は以前、飲食店のホールでアルバイトをしていました。
そのバイト先が中途半端に高級なお店で、一見時給もよく、働いていて嬉しいことももちろんありましたが、総合的にはおすすめしないということをお伝えしたいと思います。

都内某セレブ地区にある和食のお店
そこは都内にある某リッチな立地の和食料理店でした。
価格帯は安くはないけどバカ高くもない感じ。まさに中途半端。
着物を着ての給仕で、時給は１３００円。
当為
やめたほうがいい理由➀ 無駄にプライドが高い客が多い。
私の働いていたお店は、この土地だと比較的安い店の部類に入ると思います。
つまり、超高級店には行けないけど、この土地で飯が食える私ドヤッ！という客が来るわけです。
これがまあ面倒くさい。
高級店ではないけどそれなりの金を払っているのだからとプライドを振りかざしてきます。
事例 脚をぶつけたのはお前のせいだ！公開処刑おじさま。
幼稚園くらいの子供を連れた家族がご来店。
御座敷の席にご案内したところ、小太りなおじさまはにこにこしながら座布団を重ね始めた。
そしてその上に座って脚を伸ばし、テーブルに膝を強打。
おじさまの脚の太さを考えれば、実に物理法則に則った結果である。
「大丈夫ですか？」と声をかけると、あっちの広い席に変えろ！と要求。
しかしその日、広い席はすべて予約でうまっていた。
するとそのことでさらに火に油だったのか、脚をぶつけたのは座布団を重ねたせいだって言うんだろ？！！！と怒鳴られる。
当たり前だろ！と言いたいところだが、ここは日本式接客の真髄を見せるが如く、ひたすら謝った。
もう座敷フロアのすべての客がこちらに注目している。
それがおじさまのプライドをさらに刺激したのか、身振り手振りを加え、さらに大声で、
「全部お前のせいだ！！お前が悪い！！交代しろ！！早く出てけ！！！」。
時代が時代だったら首ちょんぱかな？と思いつつ去るしかなかった。
やめたほうがいい理由➁ 年配客のわがまま・暴言が酷い。
土地柄や価格帯もあってか、基本的に来店するのは４０代以上の方が中心でした。
私は勝手な思い込みにより、若い人のほうがクレイジーで恐ろしいと思っていたので、最初はこの職場を天国と思っていました。
しかし働いていくうちに、すっかり年配恐怖症になりました。
事例 若い人に給仕されたくない！陰口おばさま。
６０代のベテラン従業員が、おばさま方１０人ほどの個室を担当していた時のこと。
その日はそのベテランがどうしても早上がりをしなければならず、途中から私がその個室を担当することになった。
次の料理を持って入室し挨拶をすると、おばさま方の１人が、
「え？！若い人なの？！」
どういうこと？！と戸惑っていると、同じおばさまが、
「まさかあなたみたいな若い人が来るなんて思わなかったわ～。」
と嫌そうな顔。
うわ、なんか知らないけど初対面で嫌われてる！と思った私は、謝った上で従業員チェンジしましょうかと聞くも無視。
しかしその日は個室に入るたびに、
「さっきの人がよかったのに～」
「他に年配の従業員はいないの？」
とわざとこちらに聞こえるように同じおばさまに囁かれ、
周りにいるおばさま方も、
「ちょっとそんなこと言ったら可愛そうでしょ～」
「いいじゃないの～頑張ってるわよ」
笑いあっていた。
全員眼の前にある煮えたぎったしゃぶしゃぶの鍋に突っ込んでやりたかった。
やめたほうがいい理由➂ 着物でも着替えの時間に給料が発生しない。
法律上、本当はバイトのユニホーム等に着替える時間も給料が支払われなければいけません。
しかし実際にそれを順守している職場はあまりないのではないでしょうか。
私が働いていた職場もまさにそうでした。
ただこれが着物だと、例えば私服からポロシャツに着替えるだけとはかかる時間が違いすぎます。急いでも２０分は掛かりました。これには時間の無駄を感じずにはいられませんでした。
やめたほうがいい理由➃ 覚えることが多い・所作までチェックされる。
和食ということもあり、メニューが繊細かつ多くて、食材名や調理法、産地にいたるまで暗記させられました。
しかもメニューは旬を追ってひと月ごとに変わるので、一度覚えても何度も覚え直し。
さらに着物を着ているということもあり、ふすまの開け方から立ち方からすべて細かく指導されました。
やっていて良かったこと。
ここまで嫌だったことを書き連ねてきましたが、もちろんやっていてよかったと思えることもいくつかありました。
褒めてくださったり、おひねりを頂いたこともあった。
一応それなりに接客は頑張っていたと思うので、時には褒めて頂くこともありました。
おひねりも何度かあります。
まあこれは若い女が着物着てるボーナスだと思います。くれたのはほとんどおじさまだったから。
それはいいんだけど、おひねりを断るとむりやり着物の襟に札を挿そうとするので、自然に胸を触られる。

従業員のおばさま方に可愛がってもらえた。
従業員のおばさま方には本当に優しくしてもらいました。
私が地味でいわゆるキャピキャピ系ではなかったからかもしれません。
